Summary

Summary: Under the supervision of the RN provides age-appropriate care. • With guidance and oversight of the Registered Nurse, performs duties to support the daily care and mobility of the patient.
• Responds to and actively participates in emergency codes.
• Administers incentive spirometry and oxygen; and administers, reads and records pulse oximetry at direction of licensed professional staff.
• Suctions endotracheal or tracheostomy tube in order to obtain sterile specimens and perform pulmonary toileting; observes cardiac monitor during procedure and responds to arrhythmias by ventilating mechanically or with ambo-bag; notifies licensed professional staff if problems arise.
• Monitors cardiac console unit and observes EKG's; identifies, interprets and logs threatening arrhythmias; notifies licensed professional staff of arrhythmias.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Certified Nursing Assistant- Geriatric Nursing Assistant License, Active on Maryland Board of Nursing
• Active American Heart Association Basic LifeSupport Certificate
• Accute Care experience preferred
• Less than 1 year of experience required
