The Sterile Processing Technician I performs routine work in the decontamination, assembly, testing, and instruments in a medical facility, under the supervision of the Supervisor of Sterile Processing.
This is the first level of a three-level series. It is distinguished from the higher levels by the absence of responsibility for performing advanced and complicated sterilization, assembly and testing of medical equipment, supplies and instruments. Employees in this level may be in training to perform Sterile Processing Technician II duties.

Required Qualifications:
- Within 1 Year of Hire Date: National Certified Registered Central Service Technician - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association -OR- National Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician - Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Coursework/Training: Vocational training in Sterile Processing, decontamination/sterilization procedures, supply distribution. Or related job experience in a hospital, clinic, or medical laboratory.
- Coursework/Training: Sterile Processing class, training, or vocational education.
- CBSPD or IAHCSMM Certification upon hire.
