Hours Per Week: 0.00

Work Schedule: 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM

Summary:

The paramedic is primarily responsible for providing high quality, calm, compassionate care on inter-facility transfers and occasional 911calls if requested. He or she is also responsible with assisting other departments upon request in emergency situations, promoting training and education to the public, conducting daily inspection of equipment and quarters, and assisting with departmental operations. The paramedics education, license and scope of practice allow performance of advanced life-saving skills such as Advanced Airway Management and medication administration. Additionally, the paramedic typically serves as the leader on ambulance calls and must be able to assume leadership of the scene in mass casualty situations. Collaboration and professionalism are essential traits of this position.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES :Essential duties of EMS position follow the National Scope of Practice Documents Published by the National Registry of EMTS ( NREMT ) which can be found at www.nremt.org. These include but are not limited to:

1.Performing patient care in the pre-hospital setting and interfacility transport setting in a calm and safe manner.

2.Performing public and community education.

3.Maintaining equipment and supplies and assisting with the maintenance of the living quarters.

4.Assisting in the hospital setting as delegated and needed consistent with the collective bargaining agreement.

5.Working collaboratively with community partners, other public health agencies, and hospital personnel.

6.Willingness and desire to be a life-long learner, and continuously increase knowledge through formal education.

7.Maintain physical wellness and agility to perform the essential duties of the position.

8.Assume charge responsibilities as designated by leadership.

9.Assist/provide phlebotomy services as directed by management.

10.Working collaboratively with other departments within the hospital, and role modeling professionalism always.

11.Mentoring students, new employees, and other professionals.

Other Information:

Maine Paramedic License Valid Maine motor vehicle drivers license.
