Regional Director of Lab Services

Position Purpose:

In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors, the Regional Director, Laboratory Services directs all lab activities and resources to ensure alignment with the mission, values, and objectives of laboratory services and the organization.

What You Will Do:

Define and share a strategy and vision.

Align resources toward achievement of UEM results.

Grow and sustain the UEM.

Identify, lead and embrace change

Develops and implements Lab Services goals, plans and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization

Directs and evaluates Lab Services operations, including information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives

Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions and continuing education initiatives

Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the regional laboratory operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology or related field. MBA or PhD in laboratory science or related fields preferred.

Licensure / Certification: Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Medical Technologists (AMT) or as a Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)

Experience: Ten years of progressively responsible leadership in hospital and/or commercial laboratory. Experience in a laboratory outreach program desired

Effective Communication Skills

Ability to develop and implement a shared vision for laboratory services

Knowledge and application of performance improvement initiatives

Knowledge of laboratory legislative and regulatory requirements

Proven leadership skills in relationship to motivating and empowering staff
