Anesthesia Technologist Jobs in Charleston, WV
Anesthesia Technologists are vital members of the healthcare team who serve a critical role in the anesthesia department. Their primary responsibility is to assist Anesthesiologists, Anesthesiologist Assistants, Nurses and other medical practitioners in the delivery of anesthesia care to patients. This includes maintaining, troubleshooting, and servicing all types of anesthesia equipment, as well as assisting in non-clinical tasks such as patient preparation and recovery from anesthesia. Their key duties also involve sterilizing and preparing anesthesia instruments and machines, ensuring correct placement and functionality of devices, and monitoring patient's vital signs during surgery.
To excel in this role, an Anesthesia Technologist should be detail-oriented, have good manual dexterity, and possess strong problem-solving skills. A strong understanding of medical terminology, anesthesia equipment and procedures is crucial. Additionally, they should have a sound knowledge of patient safety and quality assurance procedures. The American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) offers a Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cer.A.T.) certification, which is highly desired by employers. Prior to becoming an Anesthesia Technologist, individuals may have roles such as Medical Assistant, Surgical Technologist, or even Anesthesia Technician, further building their understanding and expertise in the field.
