Their typical duties involve conducting tests on pulmonary or cardiovascular systems of patients for diagnostic purposes. They operate and monitor medical equipment used to analyze a patient's cardiovascular health, assist physicians with various procedures such as cardiac catheterizations, electrocardiograms, lung capacity tests, and similar procedures which require keen observation and analytical skills. They also are responsible for explaining procedures to patients and monitoring their status during the procedure.
In order to succeed in this role, a Cardiovascular Technologist must have a strong technical understanding of cardiovascular system and medical technology, combined with exemplary patient care skills.
